I did have a fitness center workout and the rest of my week is fairly busy with appointments each day.<\/p>\n<p><strong>BIBLE VERSE FOR TODAY&#8230;<\/strong> <em>&#8220;<span id=\"en-HCSB-15786\" class=\"text Ps-109-30\">I will fervently thank the <span class=\"small-caps divine-name\">Lord<\/span> with my mouth; <\/span><span class=\"text Ps-109-30\">I will praise Him in the presence of many.<\/span><span id=\"en-HCSB-15787\" class=\"text Ps-109-31\"> For He stands at the right hand of the needy <\/span><span class=\"text Ps-109-31\">to save him from those who would condemn him<\/span>.&#8221;<\/em>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Psalm 109:30,31 HCSB<\/p>\n<p>So often in our world today, we hear the question asked, &#8220;who is looking out for the &#8220;little guy?&#8221; We hear politicians say that they will look after those so easily overlooked in society and those who are struggling and oppressed.<\/p>\n<p>These are some of the thoughts that came to my minds when I read, <em>&#8220;He stands at the right hand of the needy to save him from those who would condemn him.&#8221; <\/em>Consider the complaint of the psalmist in his need, oppression and suffering&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><em><span id=\"en-HCSB-15759\" class=\"text Ps-109-3\">&#8220;They surround me with hateful words <\/span><\/em><span class=\"text Ps-109-3\"><em>and attack me without cause.&#8221;<\/em> (Psa. 109:3 HCSB)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><em><span id=\"en-HCSB-15761\" class=\"text Ps-109-5\">&#8220;They repay me evil for good, <\/span><\/em><span class=\"text Ps-109-5\"><em>and hatred for my love.&#8221;<\/em> (Psa. 109:5 HCSB)<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><em><span id=\"en-HCSB-15773\" class=\"text Ps-109-17\">&#8220;He loved cursing&#8230;<\/span><\/em><span class=\"text Ps-109-17\"><em>he took no delight in blessing&#8230;.&#8221;<\/em> (Psa. 109:17 HCSB)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><em><span id=\"en-HCSB-15781\" class=\"text Ps-109-25\">&#8220;I have become an object of ridicule to my accusers; <\/span><\/em><span class=\"text Ps-109-25\">when they see me, they shake their heads in scorn.&#8221;<\/span> (Psa. 109:25 HCSB)<\/p>\n<p>The palmist in responding to those who are oppressing, pleads with God to &#8220;get &#8217;em.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;<span class=\"top-1\"><span id=\"en-HCSB-15762\" class=\"text Ps-109-6\">Set a wicked person over him; <\/span><\/span><span class=\"text Ps-109-6\">let an accuser stand at his right hand.\u00a0<\/span><span id=\"en-HCSB-15763\" class=\"text Ps-109-7\"> When he is judged, let him be found guilty, <\/span><span class=\"text Ps-109-7\">and let his prayer be counted as sin&#8230;.<\/span><span id=\"en-HCSB-15766\" class=\"text Ps-109-10\">Let his children wander as beggars, <\/span><span class=\"text Ps-109-10\">searching for food far from their demolished homes.<\/span><\/em><span id=\"en-HCSB-15767\" class=\"text Ps-109-11\"><em> Let a creditor seize all he has;<\/em> <\/span><em><span class=\"text Ps-109-11\">let strangers plunder what he has worked for.&#8221;<\/span> <\/em>(Psa. 109:5-6,10-11 HCSB)<\/p>\n<p>After he &#8220;vents his spleen&#8221; against &#8220;the man.&#8221; We see that the petitions turn toward what he needs from the Lord,<\/p>\n<p><em><span class=\"top-1\"><span id=\"en-HCSB-15777\" class=\"text Ps-109-21\">&#8220;But You, Yahweh my Lord, <\/span><\/span><span class=\"text Ps-109-21\">deal kindly with me because of Your name; <\/span><span class=\"text Ps-109-21\">deliver me because of the goodness of Your faithful love.\u00a0<\/span><span id=\"en-HCSB-15778\" class=\"text Ps-109-22\">For I am afflicted and needy; <\/span><span class=\"text Ps-109-22\">my heart is wounded within me.<\/span><span id=\"en-HCSB-15779\" class=\"text Ps-109-23\"> I fade away like a lengthening shadow; <\/span><\/em><em><span class=\"text Ps-109-23\">I am shaken off like a locust.<\/span>&#8230;<span class=\"top-1\"><span id=\"en-HCSB-15782\" class=\"text Ps-109-26\">Help me, <span class=\"small-caps divine-name\">Lord<\/span> my God; <\/span><\/span><span class=\"text Ps-109-26\">save me according to Your faithful love<\/span><span id=\"en-HCSB-15783\" class=\"text Ps-109-27\"> so they may know that this is Your hand <\/span><span class=\"text Ps-109-27\">and that You, <span class=\"small-caps divine-name\">Lord<\/span>, have done it.&#8221;<\/span> <\/em>(Psa. 109:21-23, 26-27 HCSB)<\/p>\n<p>It is interesting how we long for justice and judgment against others, but mercy for ourselves. Perhaps that is why Jesus said, <em>&#8220;bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you.&#8221;<\/em><span class=\"p\"> (Luke 6:28 NIV)<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The psalmist does recognize the contrast between his accusers and the Lord. We can be confident that the Lord will come to our aid; even if He doesn&#8217;t do all that we would like Him to do those who are against us. At the end we see a clear understanding of our role and God&#8217;s role.<\/p>\n<p>What is our role? <em>&#8220;<span id=\"en-HCSB-15786\" class=\"text Ps-109-30\">I will fervently thank the <span class=\"small-caps divine-name\">Lord<\/span> with my mouth; <\/span><span class=\"text Ps-109-30\">I will praise Him in the presence of many.<\/span><\/em>&#8221; We don&#8217;t back down, we stop trusting and relying on the Lord. We continue to let others know that our confidence is in the Lord. <em>&#8220;The LORD is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer&#8230;&#8221;<\/em> (Psalm 18:2 NIV)<\/p>\n<p>What is the Lord&#8217;s role? <em>&#8220;<span id=\"en-HCSB-15787\" class=\"text Ps-109-31\">He stands at the right hand of the needy <\/span><span class=\"text Ps-109-31\">to save him from those who would condemn him.&#8221;<\/span><\/em><span class=\"text Ps-109-31\"> The Lord provides the strength that we need and He is ready to be the One who defends and rescues. You don&#8217;t need to rely on campaign promises to have that assurance.
