After some work in my home office, I visited Northern Colorado Rehab Hospital to deliver a certificate for their sponsorship of the Rotary Duck Race a few weeks ago. While there I visited with a new patient who is recovering from West Nile Virus. (Picture with Beth Bullard, CEO)<\/p>\n<p><strong>BIBLE VERSE FOR TODAY&#8230;\u00a0<\/strong><em><span id=\"en-NLT-15471\" class=\"text Ps-98-4\">Shout to the <span class=\"small-caps\">Lord<\/span>, all the earth;<\/span><span class=\"indent-1\"><span class=\"indent-1-breaks\">\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"text Ps-98-4\">break out in praise and sing for joy!<\/span><\/span><span id=\"en-NLT-15472\" class=\"text Ps-98-5\"><sup class=\"versenum\">\u00a0<\/sup>Sing your praise to the <span class=\"small-caps\">Lord<\/span> with the harp,<\/span><span class=\"indent-1\"><span class=\"indent-1-breaks\">\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"text Ps-98-5\">with the harp and melodious song,<\/span><\/span><span id=\"en-NLT-15473\" class=\"text Ps-98-6\"><sup class=\"versenum\">\u00a0<\/sup>with trumpets and the sound of the ram\u2019s horn.\u00a0<\/span><\/em><span class=\"indent-1\"><span class=\"text Ps-98-6\"><em>Make a joyful symphony before the <span class=\"small-caps\">Lord<\/span>, the King!<\/em> Psalm 98:4-6 NLT\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>In reading through the Psalms the declarations of praise to the Lord are plentiful. We see encouragement to &#8220;shout&#8221; to &#8220;sing&#8221; to praise the Lord with musical instruments. The final Psalm, reveals the emphasis on praise and worship when we read, <em>&#8220;Let everything that breathes sing praises to the <span class=\"small-caps\">Lord<\/span>!\u00a0Praise the <span class=\"small-caps\">Lord<\/span>!&#8221;<\/em> (Psalm 150:6 NLT)<\/p>\n<p><strong>Our praise is to be a delight.<\/strong> When we read the psalms, singing with joy is consistently found. Our worship is not a drudgery, but is a privilege and delight for those who know the Lord.<\/p>\n<p><strong>We are to praise the Lord for what He has done.<\/strong> <em>&#8220;&#8230;<span class=\"indent-1\"><span class=\"text Ps-98-1\">he has done wonderful deeds.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><span class=\"text Ps-98-1\">His right hand has won a mighty victory;<\/span><\/em><span class=\"indent-1\"><em><span class=\"indent-1-breaks\">\u00a0<\/span><\/em><span class=\"text Ps-98-1\"><em>his holy arm has shown his saving power..&#8221;<\/em> (Psalm 98:1 NLT) \u00a0The psalmist declares,<em> &#8220;&#8230;may I never forget the good things he does for me.&#8221;<\/em> (Psalm 103:2 NLT)<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>We are to praise the Lord for who He is.<\/strong> <em>&#8220;<span class=\"indent-1\"><span class=\"text Ps-100-4\">Give thanks to him and praise his name.<\/span><\/span><span id=\"en-NLT-15490\" class=\"text Ps-100-5\"><sup class=\"versenum\">\u00a0<\/sup>For the <span class=\"small-caps\">Lord<\/span> is good.<\/span><span class=\"indent-1\"><span class=\"indent-1-breaks\">\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"text Ps-100-5\">His unfailing love continues forever,<\/span><\/span><\/em><span class=\"indent-1\"><em><span class=\"indent-1-breaks\">\u00a0<\/span><\/em><span class=\"text Ps-100-5\"><em>and his faithfulness continues to each generation.&#8221;<\/em> (Psalm 100:4,5 NLT) \u00a0<em><span id=\"en-NLT-15543\" class=\"text Ps-103-17\">\u00a0&#8220;the love of the <span class=\"small-caps\">Lord<\/span> remains forever<\/span><\/em><span class=\"indent-1\"><em><span class=\"indent-1-breaks\">\u00a0<\/span><\/em><span class=\"text Ps-103-17\"><em>with those who fear him.&#8221;<\/em> (Psalm 103:17 NLT) The reoccurring declaration of Psalm 136 is <em>&#8220;<span class=\"chapter-3\"><span class=\"text Ps-136-1\">Oh, give thanks to the <span class=\"small-caps\">Lord<\/span>, for He is good!<\/span><\/span><\/em><span class=\"indent-1\"><em><span class=\"indent-1-breaks\">\u00a0<\/span><\/em><span class=\"text Ps-136-1\"><em>For His<\/em> <em>mercy<\/em> <i>endures<\/i><em> forever.<\/em>&#8221; (Psalm 136:1 NKJV)<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>We are to praise the Lord routinely and consistently.<\/strong> <em>&#8220;<span id=\"en-ESV-15894\" class=\"text Ps-118-24\">This is the day that the <span class=\"small-caps\">Lord<\/span> has made;<\/span><\/em><span class=\"indent-1\"><em><span class=\"indent-1-breaks\">\u00a0<\/span><\/em><span class=\"text Ps-118-24\"><em>let us rejoice and be glad in it.&#8221;<\/em> (Psalm 118:24 ESV) <em>&#8220;I will extol the LORD at all times; his praise will always be on my lips.&#8221;<\/em> (Psalm 34:1 NIV)\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>We are to praise spontaneously.<\/strong> <em>&#8220;&#8230;break out in praise and sing for joy!&#8221;<\/em> \u00a0(Psalm 98:4 NLT) <em>&#8220;&#8230;<span id=\"en-MSG-6832\" class=\"text Ps-149-5-Ps-149-9\">Let true lovers break out in praise,<\/span><span class=\"indent-1\"><span class=\"indent-1-breaks\">\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"text Ps-149-5-Ps-149-9\">sing out from wherever they\u2019re sitting,\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/em><span class=\"text Ps-149-5-Ps-149-9\"><em>Shout the high praises of God&#8230;&#8221;<\/em> (Psalm 149:5 MSG)<\/span><\/p>\n<p>As God&#8217;s creation, we are made to praise Him. I have found myself focusing too often on what the Lord does <strong>for<\/strong>\u00a0me, His promises for my life; but fall short on taking the time to just worship Him. Our gift to the Lord is our obedience and our praise. Heaven is filled with praise and worship to the Lord. Now is the time to get ready for what we will be doing for eternity. It won&#8217;t get old then and it shouldn&#8217;t get old now.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Prayer for today&#8230;\u00a0<\/strong><em>Lord thank You for what You have done and for who You are. Your love and mercy is overflowing in our life. Your presence is consistent, Your help never fails.
