{"id":3941,"date":"2017-01-30T17:12:29","date_gmt":"2017-01-31T00:12:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/kensummers.org\/?p=3941"},"modified":"2017-01-30T17:12:29","modified_gmt":"2017-01-31T00:12:29","slug":"the-god-of-the-heart","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kensummers.org\/?p=3941","title":{"rendered":"The God of the Heart"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>BIBLE VERSE FOR TODAY&#8230;.\u00a0<\/strong><em>&#8220;<span id=\"en-ESV-14306\" class=\"text Ps-28-6\">Blessed be the <span class=\"small-caps\">Lord<\/span>!\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"indent-1\"><span class=\"text Ps-28-6\">For he has heard the voice of my pleas for mercy.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><span id=\"en-ESV-14307\" class=\"text Ps-28-7\">The <span class=\"small-caps\">Lord<\/span> is my strength and my shield;<\/span><span class=\"indent-1\"><span class=\"indent-1-breaks\">\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"text Ps-28-7\">in him my heart trusts, and I am helped;\u00a0<\/span><\/span><span class=\"text Ps-28-7\">my heart exults,\u00a0<\/span><\/em><span class=\"indent-1\"><span class=\"text Ps-28-7\"><em>and with my song I give thanks to him.&#8221;<\/em> Psalm 28:6,7 ESV<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>As I consider these words of praise to the Lord, I see the words that are offered from a thankful and full heart. This is not just the God who does things for us. This is not the &#8220;slot machine&#8221; God. This is a God of relationship. This a God we can connect with at the deepest level of who we are.<\/p>\n<p>This is a God who responds to our cry for mercy. These words reveal a God who listens and helps us in our need. This is a God who provides the strength we need for each day and is a shield around us to protect and provide.<\/p>\n<p>God responds to simple faith and trust.<em> &#8220;&#8230;in Him my heart trusts, and I am helped&#8230;&#8221;\u00a0<\/em>Does it always make &#8220;sense&#8221; to trust in this unseen God? There are those who would decry faith as being &#8220;illogical.&#8221; But when we go with what we know in our &#8220;hearts&#8221; our inmost being to be true, we are safe and secure and have the help that is needed.<\/p>\n<p>The response is a heart that &#8220;exults&#8221; in the Lord and offers a song of praise and thanks to Him for all that He is and all that He does.<\/p>\n<p>Read these verses and consider what they communicate. Make it personal by saying, <em>&#8220;I bless you Lord! You have heard my pleas for mercy. You give me strength and protection. In you my heart trusts and I am helped. My heart exults in You and I will sing my praise to the glory of Your name.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Prayer for today&#8230;.<\/strong>\u00a0<em>Lord, thank You that You are a God of relationship. You allow us to know You and let us know that we are known by You.
